Responsible Travel Ltd ("RTL") is a marketing, publishing and distribution business for a rapidly expanding and branded section of the tourism market. It was founded in April 2001 by Justin Francis, former head of Worldwide Marketing for the Body Shop, and Dr Harold Goodwin, Director of the Centre for Responsible Tourism at the University of Greenwich.
"Responsible travel" is travel that benefits travellers, hosts and their environment. Travellers gain from more enjoyable experiences, destination hosts gain greater economic benefits to their local community and potential negative impacts on environments and cultures are minimised.
The founders are the UK’s authority on responsible travel and within a very short time the company's brand recognition level is very high. In essence, RTL is looking to become to travel what “organic is to the food industry”. RTL enables travellers to find a diversity of pre-screened holidays from many of the world’s leading tour operators, accommodation owners and grass root community projects. |
