Terraseed has developed a seed mat technology for horticulture, forestry and environmental applications that both eliminates the need for hand weeding and radically reduces the need for irrigation and agrochemicals. Terraseed's product specifically has the potential to revolutionise the way vegetable and salad crops are produced for human consumption.
  
Terraseed met with SEGF at the stage when £350,000 had already been invested in the company by business angels. This funding had been used to manufacture a prototype seedmat, conduct field trials and in undertaking extensive research.
  
SEGF agreed to funding of £250,000 alongside a "Small Firms Loan Guarantee" Loan and various development contracts. A follow-on investment of £250,000 has been made.

The company is presently seeking additional funding to accelerate commercialisation of its IP.
