Direct Enquiries Ltd was formed in 2002 to take advantage of recent legislation passed to prohibit discrimination against disabled people. The company provides an online directory, containing information regarding the provision of access and other facilities for disabled people by UK businesses. The register is free to use, with retailers and other businesses paying an annual subscription fee to register their information.
Following some early success, with a host of major retail and leisure groups registering each of their operational sites, the team were keen to obtain further investment to enable them to implement their exciting plans for growth. After being introduced to the team by their corporate finance advisors, SEGF won the mandate for the business against a number of other venture capital groups.
SEGF initially invested £250,000 in January 2006 to support the continued growth of the business and replace some early angel investors. As envisaged at the time of the original investment we subsequently invested a further £250,000 in July 2006 to provide additional working capital. |
