Derek King BSc (Hons), ACIB
Fund Principal
Derek has been working with SMEs for more than 15 years, with roles in banking, insolvency and venture capital. His early career with Midland Bank eventually saw him move into the insolvency world and then venture capital with HSBC Ventures. He joined WM Enterprise in 2000 to assist in the creation of the South East Growth Fund. Born in Maidstone, he now lives in North Kent with his wife and three young children. 

Jason Gould BSc (Hons), ACIB
Fund Principal
Following a successful ten-year career with HSBC Bank plc, Jason moved into venture capital in 1997 joining HSBC Ventures, where he was later appointed to director. Jason has led and completed a wide range of successful investments, including Phoenix Electrical Holdings, Castle Tapes Group, Oxford Market Research Agency and The Nuffield Press. He has also held a number of non-executive board positions with SMEs. He joined the SEGF team in 2003 and lives in a small village near Milton Keynes, with his wife and young daughter.

David Fisher BA (Hons), MA
Investment Manager
David has a degree in History & Politics and a Masters in Marketing Management from Liverpool Business School. Following a career in Strategy Consulting and Corporate Finance at Deloitte & Touche and KPMG David moved into the venture capital industry joining the specialist technology investor Elderstreet in early 2000. At Elderstreet David invested in a range of software and technology companies and managed the TriVen VCT. He joined the SEGF team in February 2004.

Avent Bezuidenhoudt BA (Hons), MBA
Investment Manager
Avent was previously in the Corporate Finance team of BDO Stoy Hayward in London, where she advised clients on structuring private equity funded transactions and management buyouts.  In addition, Avent undertook strategy assignments, working closely with high growth companies and their management teams to achieve their strategic aims.  She has also worked for a private family owned investment fund in London and in banking in South Africa.  Avent joined the SEGF team in February 2006 and lives in Kent with her husband and three daughters.

Geoffrey Doyle B.Eng (Hons), MBA
Investment Manager
Following a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Geoffrey completed the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst commissioning course prior to entering service with the Royal Engineers in 1995. After leaving the British Army at the rank of Captain in 1999, he undertook the Manchester Business School's international MBA where he focused on Finance and interned with the Bank of America's corporate finance department in summer 2000. He joined the SEGF team in August 2001 having completed his MBA.
